About 84 participants took part in campaign on National Fertilizer Quality Control Act, 2019 which took place at New Garage Fertilizer Market, Makurdi, Benue state on the 21st of October 2019 These include Blenders, Agro-dealers from different parts of the state, Farmer Association, Representatives of FEPSAN, FISS HQRS and State Office Fertilizer Inspectors/FMARD State Coordinator, State Ministry of Agriculture, as well as representatives of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

Opening remark was taken by the FMARD Benue State Coordinator Dr Thomson Abi. This was followed with goodwill messages from Chairman of Agro-dealers, State AFAN, New Garage Fertilizer Market Association, and Bencut Fertilizers representing the blenders.

The first presentation which was on the background of the sensitization campaign was taken by FEPSAN Facilitator, followed by step by step procedure for registering with FISS. Thereafter the dos and don’ts of the fertilizer business based on the National Fertilizer Quality Control Act, 2019 was detailed.

At the end of the presentations, issues of selling fertilizer in open bag was raised and treated as provided under the Act. Also, the need to enforce compliance to the provisions of the Act was raised and addressed.
