The sensitization programme on National Fertilizer Quality Control Act 2019 in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State was conducted on the 22nd day of September, 2021 at Hosannah market, Abakaliki. The participants numbering about 100 were drawn from Fertilizer Producers and suppliers Association of Nigeria (FEPSAN), All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Institute of Agriculture and Research (IAR) Zaria, Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), OCP Africa , Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), Nigeria  Agricultural Inputs Dealers Association(NAIDA) Ebonyi state chapter , Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development / Farm Inputs Support Services Department (FMARD/FISSD) and other stakeholders.

The state coordinator, Engr. (Dr.) Williams Obazi welcome everyone to the programme. He expressed delight to be present at the sensitization exercise in Abakaliki  Ebonyi State, South – East Nigeria and thanked the sponsors of the programme and  prayed for a successful deliberation.

The coordinator of South East sensitization programme Mrs. Babalola, Afusatu Olanike who also represented the Director Farm Inputs Support Services (FISS) Department Engr. Tunde Bello gave a brief background of the exercise.

In her speech, she talked about the signing into law the National Fertilizer Quality Control Act 2019 with the regulations and it’s gazette in 2020, she also informed the participants that similar sensitization exercise had taken place in other 5 geo political zones of the country and Ebonyi state was chosen being an agrarian state for the south east geo political zone.

Furthermore, she enjoined all participants to get informed in the workings of the Act and its regulations in order to avoid being prosecuted. Handbills and flyers will be distributed to all to create more awareness she concluded.
