The World Food Day Celebration is a program organized annually by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations which is observed by the Member Nations.  The main objective of the celebration is to heighten public awareness of the nature and dimension of the World Food problems and to develop further the sense of national struggle against hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.

The Theme for this year’s World Food Day Celebration was tagged “leave no one behind, better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life”.  The theme aimed at heightening awareness of the need to build a sustainable world where everyone, everywhere has regular access to enough nutritious food with no one left behind.

The event was held from Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th October 2022 with the exhibition on the 14th October 2022 at the National Agricultural Showground, KM28, Abuja –Keffi Road, Tudun Wada, Karu LG., Nasarawa State. Fertilizer Inspectors and other members of staff of the Farm Input Support Services department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture were on the ground to sensitize the general public, particularly the farmers on the provisions of the National Fertilizer Quality Control (NFQC), Act, 2019 and the Regulations, 2020, the proposed bill on agricultural pesticides control and the development and promotion of organic fertilizers as well as organic agricultural policy. They were ably led by the Director Mr. Kwaido M. S.

Also, the Department displayed copies of the National Fertilizer Quality Control Act (NFQC) 2019 and Regulations, 2020, the process of registering online fertilizer operators, the development and promotion of organic fertilizers, and organic agriculture policy.

Some fertilizer industry operators and Agro-Chemical Companies displayed their products and also sold them at the occasion.
